IT'S WHY... NOT HOW

Greetings 👋🏼,

Over a decade ago I bought my first digital DSLR; a Canon T3i.

My photos were terrible.

A friend told me that I needed to "take 100,000 photos to get good. Probably millions to be a pro."

I remember thinking to myself, "I better start shooting."

It was hot garbage. I wasn't making any progress. I blamed the camera. I kept shooting.

A new Nikon camera didn't help me either. More garbage from a great camera. More hard drives. More waste.

Then one day I met a photographer while traveling in Europe.

He just looked like an artist.

He had paint on his pants. A linen shirt. He wore rings, lots of them. He carried a leather journal.

He wanted to see my new Nikon. It was a new camera at the time. So I handed it over.

He rotated a few wheels, posed his daughter, and took a few shots. Then showed me the images.

They were INCREDIBLE! THOSE were portraits I wanted to take. And he did it all within seconds.

I immediately opened up. I told him I was struggling. I didn't know why my images sucked.

He scrolled through my images and nodded his head, and within seconds said:

"These are documentary images, not portraits. Slow down, think composition, and look for your light."

My light? .....Slow down? Composition?

All I could think about was to write down the camera settings. I would never change them.

After a long conversation, his words began to sink in and I began to understand.

Almost instantly my portraits got better.

They still weren't great, but WAY BETTER than where I was.

All from a 45-minute conversation with some European painter dude.

Turns out he wasn't even a photographer, he was a painter.

It was RIGHT THEN that I gave up trying to "figure it out" on my own and "learn from my own mistakes."

I love learning from my own mistakes, but I could learn way faster with the help of those who "already knew."

If I could just watch other's work. I could just absorb it all.

I don't want to waste time. I don't want to spend 10,000 hours failing.

I want to get as good as possible as quickly as possible.

And this is what I want for YOU. It doesn't matter where you are in your journey.

The fastest way to get to where you are going is from the advice and stories of Working Professionals.

Welcome to PRO EDU. Our mission is to reveal the secrets of Working PRO's.

I can't wait for you to see how quickly you can grow with the help of others.

Cheers,

Frequently Asked Questions

You will need to source, license, and own the rights to the visuals in your articles. You are required to submit your images and proof of ownership or license with every article you submit.

Can I publish my article elsewhere?

No. Right now we are only interested in original content and require that submitting to us will be the only place this is published. Google frowns upon that sort of thing.

Do you accept Advertorials?

That all depends, submit it above and if we feel that it is a good fit, we will reach out.

How Do I Submit An Article?

Please write your entire article with the proper Titles, Title Tags (H1, H2, H3) and embedded images in a Google Drive document and submit the URL to that image in the form above. The article should be completely finished, ready to publish and free of any grammatical errors.

Where do I get images from my article?

How much is my article worth?

We realize that every article is worth a different amount, so we don't publish. We are unlike many platforms and do not pay based on views, we pay based on quality.

How will I know if it is accepted?

A member of our team will reach out to discuss your article within 10 business days if we feel that your article is appropriate for our platforms.

What makes a good article?

Honesty and transparency mixed with your passion on the topic. That's really key. Second we suggest using Grammarly to ensure your message is clear and concise. Thirdly we also suggest using tools like SEM Rush or an SEO plugin in Google Docs that can grade your article on relevancy for your topic.

Whether you are a professional writer or a photographer who writes part-time, we are accepting content for publication. Below are the types of content we really love and are looking for.
